Barrel of Playoffs

Barrel of Playoffs

The NFL postseason fantasy league that turns January football into a salary-cap showdown. 4 weeks. 10 standard or 11 superflex roster spots. Virtual $200 budget. One champion — or co-champions on an exact tie.

How It Works

Four simple steps from signup to championship.

Step 1

Join or Create a League

Create a Barrel of Playoffs league or join one with friends. Works as a standalone league, included free in Monkey Kong, or as a $10 commissioner add-on to your regular season league.

Step 2

Build Your Roster from the Market

No draft — buy NFL playoff players from a shared salary-capped market. Virtual $200 cap — no real money (commissioner configurable). The same player can appear on multiple rosters.

Step 3

Survive the Eliminations

When an NFL team is eliminated from the playoffs, all their players on your roster score 0 going forward. Strategy matters — don't go all-in on one team.

Step 4

Win the Championship

Points accumulate across all 4 playoff rounds: Wild Card, Divisional, Conference Championships, and Super Bowl. Highest starter total wins. A second team defense breaks ties first, followed by the closest Super Bowl total-score prediction.

Default Roster

Standard fixed layout: 9 starters + 1 DEF-only tiebreaker. Commissioners can instead choose the fixed 11-spot superflex layout.

Key Features

Everything that makes Barrel of Playoffs different from your regular fantasy league.

Salary Cap Market

Every playoff player has a price based on regular season performance. Build the best roster you can under the cap.

Shared Player Pool

Unlike regular fantasy, the same player can be on multiple rosters. It's about roster construction, not scarcity.

Elimination Impact

When an NFL team is knocked out, their players are done. Diversify across teams or go big on your favorites — your call.

Tiebreaker System

Roster a second team defense whose points count only when managers are tied in starter points. Closest Super Bowl total-score prediction is the next tiebreaker.

4 Rounds of Action

Wild Card, Divisional, Conference Championships, Super Bowl. Every round matters. Every point counts.

Commissioner Controls

Adjustable salary cap, selection windows, roster locking, and full standings management. Your league, your rules.

The Playoff Gauntlet

4 rounds. Points stack. Rosters shrink as NFL teams fall.

Round 1

Wild Card

12 NFL teams

Round 2

Round 3

Round 4

FAQ

How is pricing determined?

Player prices are based on regular season fantasy performance. Top performers cost more. The pricing engine uses position-adjusted rankings to create a fair market where building a dream team is impossible under the cap.

Can two people have the same player?

Yes! Unlike regular fantasy leagues, Barrel of Playoffs uses a shared player pool. Every manager buys from the same market, so the same quarterback can appear on every roster if people are willing to pay.

What happens when an NFL team is eliminated?

Any player from that eliminated NFL team scores 0 for the rest of the playoffs. Their price is sunk. This is why roster diversification across NFL teams is a key strategy.

How does the tiebreaker work?

You pick a second team defense as the first tiebreaker. If starter and defense points are tied, the closest Super Bowl total-score prediction wins. Exact ties share the championship.

Can I change my roster during the playoffs?

Only while the selection window is open (set by the commissioner). Once rosters are locked, they're locked for all 4 rounds. Choose wisely.

How much does it cost?

Barrel of Playoffs is included in the Monkey Kong package ($99.99/season, $69.99 early bird). Available as a $10 commissioner add-on for Free or Silverback leagues that want this format without upgrading to Monkey Kong.
